On May 23 morning, one survivor is medically evacuated by an Italian coastguard vessel. The Ocean Viking then sends a request to find assistance in finding a place of safety and facilitating prompt disembarkation of the remaining survivors onboard. In the afternoon, Ocean Viking rescues 64 survivors from a wooden boat in distress. On May 24, Ocean Viking sends a request for the designation of a place of safety.

The same day, ITMRCC calls Ocean Viking with instructions to proceed to Pozzallo, Sicily, to disembark 294 remaining survivors.
On May 30, the disembarkation process starts.
On May 31, the disembarkation process is complete. All 294 survivors have disembarked.
