After a rescue, Camille is responsible for all the protection activities – together with her team, she makes sure survivors get a chance to let their families know they are safe and that they are aware of their rights so they can eventually receive international protection.
Camille explains why the disembarkation, when survivors leave the ship and first set foot in a place of safety, is always an emotional moment for her: Relief mixes with concern for the future of the people she just spent days getting to know and care for.
